"Misneach" the Irish word for courage.
Limited Edition print - Original drawing in Charcoal on pastel paper.
There is an abundance of qualities to admire within ourselves and each other. Not despite our fears, worries personal struggles or the ones we share, but often even more so because of them.
Misneach is the first portrait in a collection dedicated to celebrating the best of us, as women. In this portrait, the woman depicted is someone many of us have either had to be or have recognised in someone dear to us.
Courage is a choice. it is something we choose to have when shrinking ourselves in the midst of uncertainty can feel like the easier option. Often, Courage is the quiet voice that simply refuses to give up or succumb to that which threatens our peace.
In this portrait, as she proudly bears a traditional ogham tattoo on her shoulder which translates to Misneach, her gaze is strong, determined and fierce in the presence of the swirling shadows closing in, as her own light pierces through the approaching dark.
Museum-quality posters made on thick matte paper.
