Meet the Artist

Laura Hennigan is a rising talent on the Irish art scene. Born on the West Coast in Co. Mayo, her work is designed and produced along the Wild Atlantic Way.

A Laura Hennigan drawing is distinguished by its striking contrast of light and shade, expressive realism and an incredible attention to detail, all of which is captured through the mediums of charcoal and pan pastel.

Having achieved a BA in Interior Architecure and Design from ATU Sligo amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, Laura rediscovered her passion for portraiture and worked to refine her style, leading to the creation of the HLA Pencil and Brush Studio.

Starting her art career in December 2023, Laura largely gained traction through commission based work, beginning with pet portraits and family portraits.

Inspiration

Laura's most recent work delves into the common emotions and thoughts experienced by women in Ireland and across the world today, many of whom wear their fears about self-protection and safety every day of their lives.

It is a Collaboration between the artist and the public, all in answer to the question: "What do you admire and Respect about the Women in your LIfe?"

Laura is in the process of creating a collection of large-scale portraits inspired by the answers offered by the public.

"I Wear My Fear" and "Resilient" are the first two pieces of the collection, and will soon be available to purchase as prints.
