If the word "Resilient" was Personified...

I asked my friends & followers this question:

"What do you admire and respect most about the women in your life?"

One word came up again and again: Resilient. That was the inspiration behind this piece. There are so many ways that word can be interpreted, and it was clear from the very beginning how I should approach it...

One of my favourite quotes goes something like this, "Sometimes courage is that little voice at the end of the day that says, I'll try again tomorrow." In truth, there's a certain fragility to the moments we display our greatest strength, when the weight of our circumstances bears down on our shoulders, the emotional exhaustion has taken a toll and we're not quite sure how we'll get through it, but we trust some day we will. Because what's happening around us doesn't have to define us, we do that for ourselves, we choose to push on one step at a time, somehow finding a way.

I wanted to capture that emotion in this piece. I wanted it to feel raw and vulnerable and strong all at the same time. Because often, that's the reality of how we experience our own strength. So often it's in hindsight we recognise what it took for us to pick ourselves up and march on, while the people around us may well recognise that strength long before we do.

I hope this piece resonates with you as much as it does with me x
